Scholarship Requirements

  • For consideration under the IMES, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school.
  • Be an international student intending to study at UBC with a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes in citizenship status will impact IMES eligibility.)
  • Demonstrate exceptional academic accomplishments, intellectual promise, and noteworthy involvement in extracurricular and community activities.
  • Not have been nominated for a need-and-merit-based International Scholars award.
  • Submit an application to UBC by January 15.
